I sell on this website but never bought and don't plan to. I use Poshmark along eBay to give my listings more exposure, in order to clear my inventory faster. I gave this platform several chances in the past, but sold absolutely nothing, and only had beggars, lowballs and trade requests. I gave it a chance again, and this time, I did make sales. I give extremely accurate detailed descriptions of my items including when I got it, why I don't want it, down to measurements of it to even listing the materials.

I had all 5 star reviews up until recently where one buyer gave me 3 stars and said the item isn't a medium, despite the tag on the pants saying Medium, AND I gave waist, hip, thigh and inseam measurements. She actually had the item for three weeks before she gave me this poor rating. She also said my description was poor, but when I went on her page, NONE of her 180 listings showed ANY sort of specific details on her items.

Another buyer purchased my item without contacting me in ANY way, but gave me a 2 star review saying my communication could've been better. What? While the star reviews aren't public, it's just disturbing and annoying that people say the dumbest things with absolutely no way to counter or defend myself.

Some buyers are the worst and they are consistently spiteful. I end up having to block and decline people all day. On top of that, 20% fee commission to Poshmark is outrageous, along with $6 shipping. Neither the buyer or seller are benefiting from this!

If you don't like the price of the item, make an offer. If you're declined, then forget it. Don't buy it. If you don't like that the seller doesn't offer detailed descriptions, just don't buy it. Read all descriptions carefully and ask questions. No response from seller? Don't buy it. This advice could save so much trouble.

Once I'm done selling all my unwanted stuff, I would never use this platform again. I rather use eBay because at least people there READ descriptions before purchasing. And I have 100s of transactions on eBay with not a single neutral or negative feedback. I can't believe Poshmark allows a buyer to leave a bad rating over something that was their own fault.

I purchased a pair of WHBM skinny jeans from *******@lisalamy516 that were new with tags – about $80 after tax. Upon arrival, I immediately tried them on and found a small defect – it was fraying near the zipper. The same day, I wrote the seller, described the defect, sent pics, and requested an exchange – she never responded.

I should mention, the fraying was difficult to photograph because it was so small. And it's not something I can simply snip off, for fear of making it worse. In any case, if I was in a brick and mortar, I'd definitely choose another pair of jeans.

2 days later, I requested a refund through Poshmark and purchased another pair from another seller - I was worried about holiday shipping times and needed a pair right away. I'd also read Poshmark's return policy and felt confident the pics I sent of the defect were more than adequate *******@lisalamy516 immediately responded with several messages saying that the defect looked like a tear or mark, that the jeans weren't meant to be worn skin tight, & accused me of damaging the jeans. I reminded her that they were skinny jeans, and informed her they were no more tight on me than on the model in the posting. I also explained that the waist was actually a bit too large, but I loved them so much that I'd initially requested an exchange, which she ignored. I sent her another pic showing how the defect wasn't noticeable when the jeans were laid flat. She sent multiple messages referring to her high rating, multiple sales, and how she'd never send a defective product.

When Poshmark finally responded, they claimed that the defect didn't qualify for a return, applied a $5 credit to my account, and reminded me that I could resell it on Poshmark. The Poshmark return policy claiming full refunds if the buyer receives an item "not as described" is a lie. I know now that even if the 2nd pair is defective, Poshmark won't honor their phony return policy. And even if the 2nd pair are defect-free, I'll be permanently canceling my account. I wish I'd checked Poshmark's ratings before this purchase – I'd never purchase from them at all.

Hopefully my experience will help others avoid Poshmark and/or *******@lisalamy516

I purchased a pre-owned Lilly Pulitzer dress, size 8. It was weird when it arrived the measurements barely fit a size 2 and yet the tag said 8. I have the same dress in different patterns and on comparison, realized that the tag was wrong, the stitching was wrong, the YKK zipper looked fake. Yep I had a counterfeit on my hands. So when I filed a complaint and even offered to PAY the return shipping, Poshmark literally told me that I don't qualify for a refund because she showed a picture of the bust portion of the dress measuring 16 inches (which is a 32 inch bust and she stretched it because in reality its maybe a 30 inch bust for a size 8 dress. Right). I don't get it, this was a $55 dress, its not like they made a ton of money off it and its not like I didn't offer to just return it and move on. After voicing my concerns of it being counterfeit, Poshmark suggested I RESELL it on their site. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?!? Then there's the fact that since I purchased through venmo, my bank won't touch the case and there's really no other way to resolve except with PM. And they don't have a single phone number you can reach them at. All weekend I received emails, like 8pm on a Saturday asking for a picture of the zipper, 9am on a Sunday asking for a picture of the "material tag" after I'd sent them a bunch of pics. Then radio silence. I own 30+ Lilly P dresses that I have ALWAYS purchased at stores. I know whats fake and whats not. Also, if a dress is advertised as an 8 but wouldn't fit a 00, how in the world is it my fault for not asking for complete measurements? And the stitching job... awful. The crooked size tag... Seriously this company sucks to stand behind dishonest sellers

PLEASE READ - POSHMARK DOES NOT ALLOW YOU TO RETURN ITEMS PURCHASED EVEN IF IT IS A FAKE.
You are protected every time you make a purchase on Poshmark.
We will give you a full refund if your item never ships or does not match the listing description. Otherwise, all sales are final. The policies and systems we have in place to protect you are called Posh Protect.

Refund Policy
When you make a purchase on Poshmark, we don't release payment to the seller until you tell us you've received your order as described. You have 3 days after delivery to inform us if the item has been misrepresented by reporting the problem in the Poshmark app or website with supporting photos. If we verify your claim, we'll send you a label to return the order to the seller and refund your payment. All returns must be shipped back within 5 days of approval to be eligible for a refund.

What is covered
If any of the following pertain to your order, please report the problem in the Poshmark app or website immediately:

Undisclosed damage

Terrible.
February 23, 2017

Buying - They rip you off on shipping, charging you a flat rate of $6.49, no matter if items are less than 13oz & clearly ship First Class for under $2. FULL OF INIACTIVE/UNAVAILABLE ITEMS. They do not moderate their listings so Poshmark is FULL of items from sellers who are inactive, have not been active for months or even years, & do not respond to questions or comments. When you do purchase an item & it turns out to be such a seller, they hold your money for a week before finally refunding it & cancelling the purchase. Then they have the AUDACITY to mark the item as a successful sale publicly & allow the listing to continue to be visible/searchable, falsely inflating their listings & giving the appearance of high rates of successful sales.
Selling - They do not appear to offer a seller the option to charge actual shipping, do not offer high-res photos or enlargeable photos. They charge a whopping 20% of your sale (even ebay & Mercari only take 10%)
And if all that wasn't enough the App bombards your phone with a constant barrage of totally stupid & useless notifications,(stupid one-liners like "lattes are a girls best friend") for which there is no way of turning off.

I purchased a pair of boots on October 6. The seller sent me a cheap pair of shoes instead. I messaged Poshmark and the seller multiple times. No response. Poshmark does not offer phone or live chat assistance, so at this point I had no choice but to file a case with my payment issuer.

Apparently, the only way to guarantee a response from Poshmark is to file a complaint. Poshmark sent me a series of emails which scolded me for not contacting them first before filing a claim, warned me my account could be negatively impacted by filing a complaint, put a hold on my account, and informed me they would not reinstate my account until I dropped my claim.

Intimidation, plain and simple.

At no point in these emails did Poshmark promise to resolve the problem and issue a refund.

Poshmark wrongly believed I would be so terrified by no longer having access to my account that I would crumple and do anything to regain access to it. Let me set Poshmark straight: you need me, a loyal buyer of fifteen years, more than I need you. I couldn't care less if I never visit poshmark.com again. In fact, I never will.

Nor should you. They have proved they will do anything in their power (ignore, bully intimidate, cancel) rather than address a customer's valid concern.

I sent proof of the boots I ordered, the cheap shoes I received, and proof those same shoes are listed in the seller's inventory to my payment issuer. Unfortunately, you will have to do the same in order to force Poshmark to engage with you. If you have any credit or funds held in your account, make sure you remove them before filing a claim, as Poshmark will prevent you from accessing them once they receive notice of your claim.

Protect yourself.

I'm waiting on my payment issuer's decision. I am certainly not giving in to Poshmark's attempt to blackmail me (drop the claim or you'll never be able to access your account again). Absolutely atrocious.

Ask yourself if you really want to do business with a company that treats its customers with such scorn?

I know I don't.

Finally and most importantly. Poshmark's "3 Days to File a Complaint and You're Out, No Refund For You" policy does NOT APPLY to items that are incorrect, damaged or not as described. Poshmark will tell you it does, but they are lying. Consumer Protection Laws protect "purchasers of goods and services against defective products and deceptive, fraudulent business practices." Nowhere in these Federal Laws does it state you only have 3 days to file a complaint.

Poshmark is great
January 30, 2018

Everyone on site jabber complains about EVERYTHING. I dont even trust the negative reviews on here anymore because Ive heard so many bad things about companies Ive had great experiences with.
First and foremost, Poshmark is fantastic. I love this app. Buying and selling is a breeze. If you have any disputes about an item you received not being as described, do not contact the seller, contact Poshmark and immediately let them know. Make sure you do this before you accept the package! Like ALL second hand sites, once you accept the package its a done deal, you cannot do anything anymore.
Poshmark is a friendly community of people thats about networking and developing rapport with your customers, unlike other sites where you literally just sell the item and leave it at that. Its way easier to sell on here as you can bump, or share, your item to the top of a feed as many times as youd like where as other sites, youd have to pay for this feature. Granted you can only share it with your followers but its really easy to gain followers and if you dont want followers, they have posh parties where you can share your items an unlimited number of times and itll reach every posher on the app attending the party. As for high prices, every selling site has high prices. This is because buyers have the option to barter. If youve ever sold anything, Im sure you know there are A LOT of low ballers out there. This higher price allows for someone to offer a lower price closer to what the seller originally wanted to sell it for. This is not a new practice. This is done by every seller ever who offers bartering on their products. I highly recommend you try it out for yourself before you let these negative nancies ruin your perspective of Poshmark.

In spite of the reviews about Posh being on the side of the sellers, they are very harsh with sellers and issue warnings TO SELLERS when the CUSTOMER doesn't like the item or buys the wrong size (not sure how the seller can help that). They tell buyers no refunds or returns but have NO PROBLEM dashing off a return when any buyer of MINE wants one. I had to move mountains to return the WRONG ITEM and get a refund when it was my turn as a buyer.

Also note that you only get so much leeway - more than 3 complaints in 12 months and you are suspended. You have to ship in TWO DAYS (hard to do on a 3 day weekend with no post office. It can be done and you CAN make money but know going in it is no better than Ebay or Etsy and very little forgiveness depending on which end of the transaction you are on and the day of the week.

I'm not crazy about the whole socializing and parties and sharing thing. I'm not there to make friends, I'm there to shop and sell. There is also a large percentage taken from the sale so you may not make as much money as you would on say Ebay or Etsy. Unfortunately, (like Ebay these days) folks are encouraged to have "boutiques" of new item items usually factory wholesale items the sellers buy from China that are badly made of cheap materials. I'm also not a fan of stock photos (forbidden on Ebay) instead of a picture of the actual item I will be getting.

BUT... there are options to TRADE items (which Ebay forbids), you can "bundle" (put together bulk purchases) to save on the flat rate shipping and can make offers if you don't like the price. The small sellers on the site have better offerings (better brands, more selection, faster shipping, higher end) than on Ebay and Posh is formatted for those more comfortable with taking photos with their phone and texting (I'm not - I prefer to type on a PC to get the details).

At first this seemed like a nice site - kind of like an eBay for clothes but they have other stuff. The stuff I bought all smelled like someone wore it on an all night (maybe all week) date - stale perfume and sweat and in one case marijuana. But I washed it because I figured it would be more of a hassle to return. There were a couple of items that never shipped, and they make you wait a period of time and then you can hit cancel and get your money back. But there was one seller, krystalrose619, who had the system down. They took my money and then marked the item as shipped. It never actually shipped mind you. Other stuff that I did buy in the past shipped and a tracking number appeared on the site. You could tell there was never any activity at the post office. It just always said that was coming soon but it never did. I contacted the seller and she played dumb and said to ask Poshmark and Poshmark, when they finally did get back to me they said to contact the seller. So I disputed with my payment method and won and the order showed as "CANCELLED" so I thought all was good. No earrings ever came. The whole experience made me need to take a break from that site for a couple of months. So this week I decided to give it another try. I have been able to do everything on the site but buy - I get a message that there is a problem and to contact Poshmark support. There is no chat or phone number - you have to email. I googled the error and found a reddit and another thread where MANY people were discussing it and apparently I got banned over that. No one ever contacted me saying I was banned, that I did anything wrong, or to get my side of the story. Poshmark is a suspicious site anyway as soon as you mark your item as received they try and get you to immediately sell it again. So that tells me they value sellers over buyers. The other people on those threads said Poshmark never contacted them to fix the problem and they were just unable to buy from that site ever again with no due process. I decided I was better off so just permanently cancelled my account. I will not due business with a site that would rather see me lose money, cancel me for trying to prevent myself from being stolen from, and then have zero due process or communication about the matter. Look at the number of stars they have on here and several other sites.

Anyone on here giving high level of stars is probably one of the Poshmark staff trying to keep the website in business.

Jordin B who left a review on here has absolutely NO idea what she is talking about. Sellers who are honest, hardworking and ethical are NOT rewarded for this behavior.

Jordin B apparently likes to play the game of the seller marking up the price and then getting them down so they feel like they are getting a good deal? Jordin is being scammed if that is what she is doing. Marking up the price higher than you want so someone can feel like they have "bartered" you down is such a joke and a waste of time.

I list my products at far below what they are worth and I still get people trying to get me to go lower? Buyers don't even think about the fact that sellers deserve to get a fair price and not be ripped off by someone who is driven by greed.

Sellers are abused by buyers and Poshmark allows it. Just read all the reviews on here and on "pissed off" website to see how many sellers have been scammed by buyers who lowball them until they get them down on the price and then damage their items so they can either keep them or get a refund.

This just happened to me again and this time it was by a buyer named: lilli1982 who harassed me with lowball offers saying she "really wanted the boots." She then wanted me to lower the listing price so she could get reduced shipping and is now claiming the boots are so damaged they are not wearable? I am a 5 star rated seller, why would I just now decide to send out a pair of unwearable boots? Are you serious? There were 4 photos and I answered every question that was asked and Poshmark already approved the return without even hearing from me or seeing the boots.

I've been buying and selling for about a month, and so far, so good. But you have to know what their policies and guidelines are, follow them, and if something seems to be too good to be true, it probably is. I also wouldn't buy anything really high end, regardless of their guarantees. Also, for a lot of things, you can find similar items, from different sellers. So if its something you want, look around and get a feel for what it sold for originally, and what others are selling it for. Know what your getting, and whether or not its a fair price for what it is.

Also, check out seller's feedback. If it's all positive, and it shows they ship quickly, chances are, you won't get scammed. And in return, be honest about the condition of the items you sell. And detailed. I may be guilty of too much detail, but I don't want there to be any question as to the condition of something I sold. If there are flaws, be up front, and also price accordingly.

As for pricing; don't expect top dollar, even in new condition. I've sold items and seen (same thing, maybe different pattern) NWT listed for much more. Be realisitc as to what you can get for something.

As for the lowballers, scammers, etc. I usually just respond politely, or if its an offer, either counter or decline. But I don't let it get to me. And yes, it is work. I also work FT, so sometimes I don't really feel like liking and sharing, etc. Which is fine since I'm not in any hurry to sell my stuff.

I joined to try and thin out my closet, and make some $$ in the process. While I've only sold a small percentage of what's in my Posh closet, I have nothing but great feedback, and nice notes.

So overall, I like the site, and how they operate, but you have to be aware of how they work, and so on.

I am strictly a buyer- I don't think I would want to sell on Poshmark since their take is 20%.
THE GOOD:
*I have located items from many seasons past that I have been searching for FOR YEARS, new with tags! It's a rush to find a long-sought jewel in the rubble heap and for a great price (I don't buy high-end designers, but vintage-y, boutique pieces from shops like Anthro circa 10 years ago).
*If you are looking for a specific item you are almost guaranteed to find at least one- there are millions of listings.
*Since every post allows you to make an offer, you can get pretty great deals.
THE BAD:
*Because of the high % fee retained by Poshmark, some sellers don't want to go down even a couple bucks. I can understand this, but for a used (even in good shape) item you need to be aware the true value is what others are willing to pay, not what you originally paid (or more).
*The social "sharing" aspect. It's kind of annoying and stupid and gamey. I will share users listings to be nice, but I really don't care for all the notices that I'm being "followed" or my listing was shared. I'm here to shop, not be all Social Media hook er.
THE UGLY:
*SHIPPING. FREAKING $6.49 no mATTER WHAT THE ITEM. I can't buy jewelry because it's so ridiculous. I hesitate to buy cheap things too because shipping will sometimes be half the cost. The SHIPPING IS THEFT.
*Users who have no been active for a time period NEED to be inactivated or something on their listings should indicate they have not been active. You can see on the app when a user was last active. If there is no date, I think you can assume it's been a LONG time. But other than that (you really have to dig for this) you can place an order and have no idea if the other person is even "there." It's such a simple thing, PM really needs to fix!

Overall I have had pretty good experiences, not been scammed, sellers have been pretty nice (some don't answer questions in listings which is annoying, considering PM expects buyers to do this), shipping is quick once sellers get around to it. I will continue to use it but I would buy so much more if shipping were reduced!

"Agresale" (Alexa Moiso) of Oregon advertised a pair of shoes saying:
In good condition. Does have wear in interior from use as shown in pictures. A few creases near front toes. Material is patent leather. Heel height is approx. 3". I personally think these run slightly small and would fit best for a size 9."

$40 plus $6.49 shipping (which they asked - you can make offers which I didn't realize) I paid and upon arrival they fit like a true 9.5! I'm a 9 so I contacted seller and seller said:

I'm sorry they didn't work for you! I'm an 8.5 and thought they ran slightly small for a 9.5. I am unsure of what to do for you as there are no returns unless there is a flaw with the item.~agresale
*******@maureensharib maybe you can email poshmark and see what you can do? You can always resell them yourself as well.

I did as suggested and here's poshmark's response:
Have reviewed the case you submitted for order "j. Crew valentina patent d'orsay pumps". Unfortunately, this case does not qualify for a return because:
- unfortunately, this does not qualify for an item not as described return per our guidelines
- sizing can vary by fit and was not misstated by the seller
- moving forward, we highly encourage prospective buyers to ask as many questions as possible before making a purchase, including exact measurements, materials, etc
- Item can be re- listed and sold in closet

When I tried to contact the seller again the seller had blocked me.

I'm NOT a poshmark seller - will not be a poshmark buyer again in the future and encourage you not to be a poshmark buyer in the future based on this case of bait and switch and self-dealing on poshmark's part.

WTF
August 15, 2017

First how I found this is because I wanted to know what was wrong with posh or was something reported about their systems going down or what. I have had a lot of sales lately even though thats good I still had a feeling. These people got some good stuff wah cheap I had a sale. But I started to notice some were preassuring me for lowball offers that I wouldn't except. Not to mentioned after being bumbarded by the follow me game that sounded childish I didn't want to be involved in every now and then someond eould appear and so call give me advice in a bossy way. Something strange the other day someone messaged me after I listed an item and asked me to email them, I didn't how ever I left them a message on the item and their message deleted in thin air like it wasn't there. So today I get a notice that my funds are in, when I went to get them nothing was there so that brings me back to WFT! I see everyone complaining about my experiences oh yea and one lady kept taging herself on my item and when I did it to hers see wantef to know what the he! I did it for. Whom are these people. I'm starting to believe these posh developers are behind this. I will let it be known about my future experience.
