I had been buying for last 2 years. Except for one or two time the experience is not so bad. Honestly speaking you have to select the supplier based on the quantity of orders in his hand and reviews. For sure not the cheapest one. This is the point where most people make mistake and then pay penalty
My experience with Ali Express has been great. They offer so many different products, I have purchased slippers, boots, socks and jewelry items. If there is a problem they are very fair and quick to resolve it.

My bank says there is really no way to find out. One day after placing an AliExpress order my debit card number was hijacked and 100.00 in small with-drawls was taken out of my checking account. Fortunately I caught it before it passed 100.00 and my bank issued me a new debit card and froze the old one. All I want to say is check your statement online daily if you use a debit card to order from overseas. I will be using PayPal to place orders from now on.
I purchased a laser engraver, Aliexpress charged my credit card for the total amount on Jan. 16,2018, but cancelled the transaction few minutes after arrangement of full payment, but Aliexpress refuses to refund the money back. They had no reason to cancel the transaction, since it was paid for and I did receive an email that it was all in order, but decided to cancel the transaction and to hold the money. Just imagine how many customers get cheated for such unlawful practice.

I made a purchase on Aliexpress and the item description was incorrect and misleading. I contacted the seller who offers a full refund on all of her products with no success. Lodged a complaint with Aliexpress and their response was that my refund was declined because I didn't have he packaging the item arrived in. I wasn't disputing that I never received the item so therefore proof of packaging is irrelevant. No support or positive interaction with Aliexpress so I have taken my case to PayPal to receive a full refund. Don't waste your time or money shopping here, you'll regret it.

I got only half of my original order of 2 watch bands, one came neatly shipped. I tried the very cumbersome resolution process. It seemed very much artificial Intelligence driven. It could not seem to understand because i took delivery of a package my order was nor fully received. I stuck with the process a long time. Finally, I had to give up trying. The resolutions process they have is a real maze. I think it functions as intended, though.
My experience with this site worked out very good. I bought hand fans and necklace charms from 3 different suppliers. Each one arrived in a reasonable amount of time and was exactly as I expected. One of the suppliers (Tracy from I Am Your Fans) actually emailed back and forth with me to make sure I got the exact product I wanted from her selection. I did not have to deal with returns so I cannot speak to that. I know that is often the challenge with these types of sites.
I have ordered from them before BUT the second you send an item back because it's not what was described. They try to play games with you. They will NOT refund you at all. They are nice only when they are receiving money from you but come REFUND time, it's always a long story or they stop answering in general. Beware stay off this website! They are thieves! All of them. All they like is money! And good feedback! Please Go to another store.
Some companies are not a problem. However if you do have an issue AliExpress's dispute process is designed to make your life as difficult as possible.As a consequence I will not be dealing with them again. Products vary from seller to seller but all my purchases have been satisfactory so far. They match the description and work well too. Although the shipping process takes some time, they inform you about this when you make the final purchase.
I've never had trouble with Aliexpress, I doubled-up an order once and received a refund without hesitation. Just be careful with their clothes sizes though. A size 14 woman (Australian size) will often find even a XXL item a bit snug.

I am somewhat amazed at the amount of negative experiences written down here. To provide some balance, I can prove that I have succesfully purchased over 50 products... only 1 went wrong - yet that could also be attributed to my countries customs.
